he Salary Allocation Unit staff evaluates and processes required official documents that verify training (transcripts) and experience (employment verification letters) to determine placement and advancement on the Teacher Preparation, Early Education and Development Center Salary Tables. Placement and advancement guidelines are incorporated in the District-UTLA Collective Bargaining Agreement, Education Code and applicable State Laws. We also verify eligibility for career increments and promotional opportunities and address appeals related to salary placement.

The Salary Allocation Unit strives to provide teachers and certificated staff with easy access to a variety of information, documents and updates. The LAUSD community response to our website (nearly 10,000 visitors a month) has been overwhelmingly positive. We hope you visit often!

Important Update Regarding Vanguard University Salary Credits:  Effective January 31, 2011, LAUSD no longer accepts professional development units from Vanguard University for salary point credit. LAUSD continues to receive documentation from Vanguard University for affected employees. The completion of all required university hours for courses in the Teacher Advancement Program coursework is extremely important. Currently, the District is reviewing the verifications received from Vanguard University to ensure compliance with university standards and District/UTLA contract provisions. Thank you for your continued patience during this process.

The District expects that each Teacher planning to take any future coursework at any other institution conduct due diligence to ensure that the coursework offered meets the minimal standards set forth in the LAUSD/UTLA contract under Article XV, Section 3.0. These requirements were established to ensure that teachers continue their professional development by being engaged in rigorous and scholarly graduate level work. This work must enhance the teacher's classroom practice and include research as well as instruction in methodology and pedagogy. (updated 02/28/11)

University of Phoenix transcripts: Please be advised you will need the “Enrollment Verification with Schedule” attached to your University of Phoenix transcripts in order to determine the appropriate effective date of the units. (added 01/10/11)

View Your Salary Points and Information
Our Document Management / Database system allows teachers to view a summary of their salary file information online. If you have submitted documents to the Salary Allocation Unit since August 1, 2000, you can view a summary of your salary information, multicultural points on file, pending items to be processed, and more. Eventually, all teachers will be able to access their salary allocation information online.
